Okay... I just love that joke. No matter how old it gets. And Brian can attest to the fact that I use it enough that it gets old really fast.
We woke up around 8:30 am so we could head over to Richard and Vicki's. I wanted to learn how to make the traditional Japanese New Year's Breakfast Soup, aka Zoni. I know have a pretty good idea of how the soup is made. One day when my kids get married and have kids I will need to have this skill.
The Zoni was particularly good this year. Even Shay, who has never tried it before, had some. He said he liked it. Maybe we have him converted to the way of the fish.
Having the soup on New Year's is just another one of many family traditions. It truly fills my heart with joy that our family has so many wonderful traditions. Our boys are growing up in a family that loves to be together. I just had to be mushy for a second. Sorry.
After we cleaned up breakfast we all headed over to the District to see Bedtime Stories. It was a cute movie. Much better than I expected. I guess popcorn and 32 oz of diet coke can make anything enjoyable.
And since we hadn't been to Bachan's all year... queue the sympathy groans... we went over there for leftovers.
Check out the pics of how we started our year.
